Pimp That Photo! A guide to Photo Editing

So after some hundred zillion clicks, you finally have what you think is the perfect picture, but oh wait! It still doesn’t look as great as those you have seen around on Bookstagram.

Hey, cheer up! It’s just because most of those photos are edited. And for me, editing is the most fun part of the whole Photo sharing process!

There are lots of apps you can use to get started with, but I will personally be talking about IPhone editing and apps that I use to do so. I’m quite sure they are available on other phone platforms. Psst, Google is your friend.🤓

  1. Instagram! That’s the number one source of all filters and you have a bunch to use from. In case you don’t want to use a filter, you can still play around with the other tools presented there. Like adjusting the brightness, Saturation, warmth, etc…
  2. Snapseed I hardly use Instagram and this one was my number one editing app for my pics. I usually just adjust the Tune Image feature that helps in adjusting brightness, warmth and saturation of the picture.
  3. VSCO  I’ve come across VSCO and immediately fell in love with it. It has the widest range of filters that you can choose from. If you are not sure which one to go for, you can check out those IG accounts that offer free readymade VSCO themes (search in explorer for VSCO filters). All you have to do is pick a preset and adjust the numbers accordingly, Try it!!!

Below I have created a comparison between the three apps with a before and after picture of each. Personally, my favorite is VSCO which is what I’m  using right now.

  1. Great post! I tried using VSCO and other 3rd party apps but I tend to go back to Instagram. It’s just easiest because it’s right in the app. I’m a lazy person! haha
