Book Review: They Both Die at the End!

Book Title : They Both Die in the End
Book Author :
 Adam Silvera
My Rating :
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Publication Date : September 5th, 2017

I have a confession to make. The main reason I picked up this book was purely for its title.

I was really intrigued and was ‘dying’ to know if they both, would really die at the end. Ok ‘dying’ seems like a harsh word given the circumstances. But still, you know what I mean.

Well, after reading it, I wasn’t sure what rating I was to give. It took me a few days to make up my mind about it but I still think I gave it a fair rating. I didn’t love it as much but I didn’t hate it either.

One thing I know for sure is that I’m quite impressed with the concept of this book. An alternative world created. We have an organization called Death-cast who calls up people who are claimed to die about 24hrs from the time they get that call.

So the book’s point of view alternates between Mateo and Rufus, who have received this call. They are strangers to each other but get to meet through an app called the Last Friend. Together they get to experience their last day and they would do all those things they wanted to do but never got around to it.

Instead of wondering what will happen to Mateo and Rufus, I started instead thinking what I would do if it was my last day. What would my last meal be? Who are the people I’d hang out with and it also got me thinking what book I’d pick as my last one?

Overall, I’d say its a very likable book. I can’t say that I loved every part of it but still, I did enjoy it and it did leave some impact on me.

Did they both die at the end? *sneaky smile.

Now that’s for you to find out if you pick up the book!

  1. Wonderfully written review, I really like how honest you are with your rating. More Happy Than Not is my favorite from Silvera and this one is my lest favorite of Silvera’s three books. I really liked this one, but at the same time I wasn’t as swept away with the writing style as I was with the other two.
Anyway, I look forward to more of your reviews in the future… happy reading! 🙂
